illy and master barista Giorgio Milos celebrate national coffee day with free coffee for all new yorkers
NEW YORK, New York, September 16, 2011 - On Thursday, September 29th, illy invites New York’s coffee lovers to celebrate National Coffee Day at “What Brew Are You?”: coffee demonstrations from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm at Lincoln Center’s at65 café (1941 Broadway at 65th Street) featuring complimentary coffee crafted by illy Master Barista and Atlantic.com contributor, Giorgio Milos, showcasing a range of preparation methods including Espresso, Syphon, Moka, French Press and Chemex.
Watching Milos at work makes for good theater, and even better coffee. He is a professor at illy’s Università del Caffè, the industry’s most comprehensive international coffee education program, where he teaches coffee’s history, agronomy, chemistry, processing and production, alongside intensive, hands-on coffee preparation.
“My goal for the day is to inspire people to expand their coffee preparation horizons, and take their appreciation of coffee a step further,” said Milos.
Those unable to visit at65 Café can celebrate National Coffee Day by visiting participating locations where illy is served throughout the city, where from September 29-October 2 with every cup or can purchased at participating illy partners including the Café on One at the America Museum of National History, Bisco Latte, Circo, Frame, Fresco on the Go, Jacques Torres, J&R, Little Cupcake Bakeshop, Milan Luxury, Milux Café, The New York Times café and Vive la Crepe, illy will donate $1 to the Food Bank For New York City and Share Our Strength.
